Eating Words (I don't like the way you make me feel)
Performance for video.
A private action in my bedroom. I write the same sentence over on over on sheets of A4 paper until the pencil lead runs out. I then tear up the paper and start to eat it, choking as the words get stuck in my throat.
Eating Words II
Transit Station, Transmediale Festival, Berlin
I lay down inside a circle of plastic knives and forks and begin to write with scrabble letters, as my Eating Words video is projected onto my belly. The text reads "When I was a child I realised that eating stopped me from crying. So I chewed and swallowed my tears. I consumed my emotion."
